Hen Parties -Ideas for fun, sophisticated weekends away

Organising a hen party is no easy task. There are many factors to consider, your hens may vary in age, particularly if mothers and aunts and maybe even grandmothers are invited. So, you need to make sure your event is suitable and comfortable for everyone.

Secondly, not everyone in your party will have the same budget to spend, so finding something to suit everyone’s needs can be quite a challenge, renting one of our large houses could be your answer.

House Parties have a selection of houses ideal for a classy hen weekend. Our houses range in style, location and price but whatever you choose; they all represent better value than compared with a hotel or B&B of a similar standard.

Hot Tub

Catering can be arranged at all of our houses, some, like The Old Granary, provide full hen weekend packages which can include beauty treatments, lunch and dinner options, dancing lessons and cocktail making. So all you need to do is pack your bag and turn up!

If all you want from your hen weekend is a little bit of luxury and a chance to rest and unwind then Stuckgowan is ideal. It has a 7 seater hot tub with views over the loch as well as a cinema room with full surround sound. Our caretaker is happy to take delivery of food and wine on the day of your arrival (sorry only Asda deliver in this area) so all you need to do is decide your menu and what beverages you wish to partake of and it will be in one of the numerous fridges awaiting your arrival. With 4 dishwashers, you don’t need to argue who will be doing the washing up either!

Kenmore Hotel and Village Square

There are plenty of walks around the loch, or for those that just want to admire the scenery you can take a loch cruise or even charter a sea plane. If you fancy some serious pampering then how about a visit to the wonderful spa at Cameron House Hotel which is less than 10 minutes’ drive from Stuckgowan. If you do want an evening out then there is a great fish restaurant as well as a Michelin-starred restaurant run by Martin Whishart, both at Cameron House.

If you want some night life then Clifton in York is ideal. It sleeps 12 hens and is less than 10 minutes’ walk from the city centre. If you can’t be bothered to walk that far, the Bar and Brassiere at the 5 star Grange Hotel, is almost opposite the house. For a sophisticated afternoon why no treat yourself to afternoon tea at the world famous Bettys Tea Rooms? An ideal way to relax after a hard mornings shopping. For chocolate lovers why not take part in a Chocolate Making Hen Party?

If your teams of hens are a creative bunch then may we suggest you consider a tiara making party or make your own corsages? The Craft Hen can arrange workshops around the UK.

For wine lovers, a wine tasting makes an ideal start to an evening, Wine Unearthed will travel to you and offer a selection of packages including champagne tasting or cheese and wine to a full package of wine and food matching.

Hen do’s can get costly but if you’ve booked yourself one of our great House Party houses, have been savvy and worked out your menus in advance, thanks to the Lovely Nigella Express or Jamie’s Meals in 30 Minutes, ordered your wine and bubbles to be delivered then all you need is a few more ideas. Get yourself a copy of Girls Night In – great idea from cocktail to cupcake making all for £11.55 from Amazon.

We hope we’ve given you some ideas and we hope you enjoy your hen party house. Please remember hens to say a big thank you to your chief bridesmaid or maid of honour, we know how much effort goes into organising these events!
